Caution Advised Due to Cracks Near Valahnúkur
Reykjanes UNESCO Global Geopark would like to alert visitors to the presence of cracks near the popular tourist sites Bridge Between Continents and Valahnúkur. These cracks may pose a safety risk, and visitors are advised to proceed with caution in the area. We urge all guests to stay clear of visible cracks and edges. Please note that visits are at your own risk.
The shoreline at Reykjanes where the Mid-Atlantic Ridge connects to Iceland. Valabjargargjá is the normal fault to the east and Valahnúkur an eroded hill (palagonite tuff, pillow lava and breccia). Valahnúkamöl is a beach berm, made of large boulders.
