Efst er reglulegur gjall- og klepragígur og kringum hann eru jarðföll suður meðfram gígnum en þar er hægt að finna smáhella. Misgegngi í grendinni mynda austurjaðar Reykjaneseldstöðvakerfisins og gos- og rekbeltisins á Suðvesturlandi.

Hentugast er að ganga á Skálafell frá bílastæði við Gunnuhver.
